Trying to find Evans

Hello Fellow Searchers! I am trying to trace my Evans ancestry and have got as far as my Gt. Grandparents, Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Thomas) who were married on 23rd January 1872 at Sardis Chapel in the district of Pontypridd. At the time they were living in Pentonteg, Llantwitfardre. They had three sons (that we know of) one son, Philip (who emigrated to America), John, Thomas and three daughters, Catherine, Emma and Jane. My grandfather was John and he married Mabel Jestina Cadrington (nee Higton) on 3rd January 1901 at the Parish Church, Trevethin, Penygarn, and eventually lived in Gloucester. Any information which might help me would be very welcome. Why do we only seem to become interested in family history when the generation who know all the answers have all gone!
