GEORGE AND SARAH GIBBS.... These are my 3 x gt. grandparents. Both were born in BEER in Devon. I do not have Sarahs maiden name. George and Sarah had the following children John Gibbs born abt. 1826 probably BEER Mary Jane Gibbs born abt. 1831 BEER Elizabeth Gibbs born abt. 1832 probably BEER Sarah Ann Gibbs born 1837 DAWLISH George Gibbs born 1841 SHOREHAM, SUSSEX George GIBBS senior was born in abt. 1782 He was in the Coastguard Service. He and Sarah are both buried in SHOREHAM BY SEA, SUSSEX Having just come back from visiting his birthplace BEER, I would like to know if there are any descendants of the GIBBS family still living in BEER. I found quite a few GIBBS in the graveyard ! And apparently a Mrs GIBBS ran the Dolpin Inn in BEER in the 1880's. If anyone has any info on this family it would be most welcome. Thanks Irene |
