Trying to find Gibson

This is a long shot, I am trying to trace information on my grandfather who was born Robert Gibson c 1895, near Eastry, Kent. After starting a family, he went to Canada approx 1928 to find work but disappeared, however, I understand that he returned at a latter date but I do not know if this was permanent. He may have changed his name to Smallridge (his mother’s maiden name) and started a new family in Canada. I understand that his children came over to England approx mid 1960’s to locate relatives both Smallridge and Gibson and possibly moved to Scotland. We have no more leads, grateful for any help in solving this mystery. Thanks Peter |
