Trying to find Gibson

Dawn Report 22 Oct 2006 00:30

I am trying to trace my biological grandfather. I dont have anything in concrete about him. He was referred to as Gibson (don't know if that was a forename or surname). He would have been born around 1900-1912. I believe he may have come from the Scottish Borders (poss Hawick). He was in Army Barracks in Inverness in the first half of 1930. The regiments that were there around that time were the Kings Own Scottish Borderers/2nd Battalion Black Watch/Cameron Highlanders. My grandmother (Mary McBain) fell pregnant to him and had twin girls born Jan 1931(one being my mother). She worked in Inverness as a domestic servant at the time. Apparently he did want to marry her but she never waited for him and married someone else. It is possible that his sister wanted to adopt the twins but they remained with their mother. There must descendants or half siblings of my mothers out there somewhere. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dawn
