Charles Green,born either Cornwall road, Lambeth or Cornwall road,between Clapham and Brixton Hill -about 1865.Sister- probably Georgina ,born Streatham Tooting district, in 1859.Father probably George and mother Mary-Ann.Charles married Harriet Gambell.Can't locate either birth ,nor marriage certificate.Please help !!!!

Yes I am going on the 1901 Census with the family in Chelsea and 1891 in Clapham and then 1881 George and Mary Ann in Lambeth and Charles as a 17 year old apprentice but I am unsure which birth certificate I should look at.I hve tried the ones in Wandsworth 1866 and 64 -they are not him.Should I try Lambeth ? and I need to find out when and where Charles and Harriet married.(Harriets madien name I think was Keefe).Thanks so far for your answers.Looking fwd to more communication.

You have put Harrietts maiden name as Gambell in your first post so which is it.

oops sorry got mixed up.Her maiden name was Gambell.And that's what's strangeis there are so few Harriet Gambells geting married around 1888.(when Ada their first child was born).

Yes- I have my grandmothers.Gladys in Chelsea Oct 1899 and Arthur Sidney's in Clapham,wandsworth 1894.i know I should probably try to find Ada's I guess.

Have you searched the full registers or just Free BMD?

I have Harriet's birth certificate.The Harriet is spelt with only one t.And Gambell,not Gamble.But it could be possible that she changed this.I don't think they would have got married anywhere else than London.They moved up to Caledonian Road in the 1910's or 20's but I also can't find Death Certificate for either, in Islington.She should have died Dec 1922 and Charles abt 1935

I have searched the registers on ancestry.u.k as a member.But I am loathe to order the wrong certificates.After ordering the wrong birth certificates for Charles I am just stumped what to try next either than Wandsworth.

is that right that Brixton belongs to Lambeth and Clapham to Wandsworth ?

I've no idea of the districts, sorry.

I suppose you have seen the death in Dec 1922 in Holborn. They didn't always die where we expect them to.

Could have been in hospital or with other family.
