They had two children. If you have Ancestry access you can find them by searching for children with surname Green and mother Creasy. Otherwise their details can be sent to you privately. Let us know.

-- Oops, I assumed we were looking for living family. ;)

It's always so helpful when people specify *what* info they are looking for!

Hi there,
I got his marriage cert. His fathers name was John Terence Green, just like his.
They only list them under John T Green and there are so many.I did order already a few wrong ones. They turn out to be John Thomas Green.

So what is it you're looking for? Ah - his birth?

Freewheel

Freewheel Report 24 Sep 2009 21:40

Where was the marriage?

What was the father's occupation?

Was the father 'deceased'?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 24 Sep 2009 21:43

Marriage was Hendon.

Did you try this one?

Births Dec 1911
Green John T Ebsworth Brentford 3a 142

Well ...

Marriages Sep 1911
Ebsworth Annie Brentford 3a 407
Green John Brentford 3a 407

Do you know who any of his siblings were? A witness to the marriage maybe?

Freewheel Report 24 Sep 2009 21:44

There is no record on freebmd of any event for the name John Terence Green.

And the father's birth should be on there - if he was born in England/Wales .

'Deceased' often means invented...................not always, of course, but.....................

JaneyCanuck Report 24 Sep 2009 21:46

There's no birth for a John Terence Green ever.

Could you be looking at what we all have somewhere -- a fabricated father? A father with the same name as the groom is sometimes an indication of that.

As FW said -- what was the father's stated occupation? Oops, got it, deceased.

Stephen

Stephen Report 24 Sep 2009 21:47

No,we know nothing about any brothers or sisters

Stephen

occupation:deceased.

If there was no John Terence Green birth ever, did he make his own name up as well?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 24 Sep 2009 21:51

Stephen, you said yourself that they're all John T Green -- because all events after 1911 were recorded with middle initial only, not name.

So no, he didn't necessarily make up his own name. He might have.

But before 1911, middle names were included in records, so if his father was born before 1911, his birth should show his full name. Possibly his marriage also.

so this looks pretty tricky,
thanks anyway

It does indeed.

My gr-grfather made up his surname when he married in 1883. Fortunately, I had censuses and birth records with middle names that I could spend months ploughing through to find who he really was, which I finally did. You won't have a census even for another 10 years.

Ruby was born in Suffolk, living in Mutford in 1911. But they married in Middlesex. So there's no way even of guessing where JTG may have come from.

Given the timing, though - if he was born in 1914 - he could have been a war baby. (I checked Canadian WWI attestation papers just in case, but there was no John Terence Green.) Or just the not uncommon circumstance of a child whose parents weren't married. A very common scenario would be that his mother was Green, and he just fabricated his father when he married.

JaneyCanuck Report 24 Sep 2009 22:23

You haven't indicated your relationship to JTG. Do you know when he died? Is there a date of birth on his death record?

Stephen

Stephen Report 24 Sep 2009 22:24

All right,
thanks for your help,I think I know now what to do next
