I have Elizabeth Green bn @ 1843 Retford .(according to census ) father Joseph Green. Married to Joseph Roberts in 1872, in Sheffield. I have history after 1872. I cannot find her previous history. Any help appreciated.

She is old enough to have been married before. Have you confirmed her maiden name with her children's birth certificates. Or do you have the marriage certificate which would tell you if she had been married before.

Sorry , is not shown on my copy of Marriage cert to Joseph Roberts., I have not found Eliz. 's birth cert.

She was spinster on Marriage cert. to Joseph Roberts

This could be her with her father ?

You copy, if it's the full cert should have all the details unless they have been omitted because she didn't know them...

Or are you indicating you don't actually have the cert? if thats the case we cannot help you further until you order it!

I copied my cert into a folder but unfortunately omitted the right side,. and cannot find the original I will keep looking.

Don't think this is the same Eliz. , family Henrietta bn 1873.John 1876 George William 1877 (my grandfather) May Green Roberts 1879. Grace 1878. Jospeh 1880 Ethel 1884. There seem to be many Elizabeth Green's.

Yes. I think that is correct. Spouses name was Barbara Caroline. (love the copying) in the 1861 census. the rest is okay. Don' t know about 1851 , this is the date I originally had but doesn't tally with marriage cert. (29 in 1872) I think the 2nd .George H is really Grace H.bn 1878

She was actually born in 1845 and registered in the December quarter.
Her age on the marriage certificate may have been how old she thought she was or may have been entered as 27 in the register and transcribed as 29 onto the certificate. Many marriage certificate ages do not tally with the real age for many different reasons.

Thankyou everyone who looked up the items for me..I really appreciate your help. Census.. after 1881 fit with her birth being 1843 . stated as Retford, so no concrete evidence regarding family. Although I think it may be Bridget and Joseph. anyway thanks again. Last post has just come up, so I was wrong. it is Joseph and Mary.Pauline.
