THOMAS GREENWOOD: born c.1842 Great Harwood Lancashire. In 1881 / 1891 he was living in Hemingfield, S. Yorkshire as a coal miner with first wife and daughters. Thomas's first wife, ALICE, born Blackburn Lancs c 1835 died aged 71 in March 1906 in Hemingfield. Thomas then married my great grandmother ( ELLEN WHITE nee BIRKINSHAW of Wentworth) at St Mary's in Wombwell on 9th August 1906. In 1913 Ellen was a widow again. Thomas and Alice had 2 daughters both born in Hemingfield : MARY J. GREENWOOD born 1873 ADA GREENWOOD born 1875 I would be interested in finding out what happened to Mary and Ada and, if contacts could be made with relatives, finding out anything about HILL TOP FARM HEMINGFIELD where Ellen and Thomas lived after their marriage and which stayed in Ellen's family until about 1945. |
