Find Ancestors

Trying to find info. on Ernest Edward Hall born 1921 Perth, Australia. He was my hubbies Grandfather. Married Betty Lilian Doris Eves in 13.05.1934 at St James, Gravesend, Kent. Has sons Trevor Ernest Hall & Terry. As far as the story goes his father Ernest Hall had connection in uk then travelled to Australia where Ernest Edward Hall was born, at some point came back & married at Gravesend, Kent. Just cant find info on him.

I doubt that he was only 13 when he married.

YES I got a date wrong!!! Marriage was 13.05.1944 (Not 1934)!!!! SORRY!!!!

JULIE: Please can you tell me how I get the info. on birth of Ernest Hall? Where did you find that??? The marriage was at St James in Gravesend,Kent but appears Betty used surname Foster cos that was her Dads name.

FREEWHEEL: Right birth & Marriage.
Mother married Eves & had children, then had Betty who was registered as Eves but Dad was Foster. Married Foster after Betty was born!!!!

The Ernest Hall ive asked about had a father called Ernest Hall & Mother Emily but dont seem to be able to find any info. on this either. Can anyone help with this by any chance?????

Found Ernest birth on The Western Australian bdm web site..

You can order his birth certificate via this site and that should have his mothers maiden name.

Just select 'birth' and enter a few details.
At the end of the line of info is 'order' (in blue) click on it and follow the prompts.

All I know is the Dad travelled out there from England, possibly with the Navy, Dont know if he met wife in Australia or not! Had their son Ernest out there & then returned. No dates though! Dont even know if they had any other children out there or back over here. The only living relative is very vague!!! Dont even know for sure if the parents came back or just the son at a much later date!!!!
Sorry for being so vague, wish I knew more.

Have just been given a lead!!!!

My hubbies Dads 2nd wife has found Ernest Edward Halls birth certificate, marriage certificate & a document with his army number on. Cant wait to take a look. Hopefully this will get the tree moving again.

Finally got some more info!

Ernest Edward Hall born Perth, Australia dob: 07/08/1920.

on 14/03/1949:
Father Ernest Hall Age 60 (born 1889?)
Mother Emily Hall Age 53 (born 1896?)
Sister ? Hall Age 20 (born 1929?).

All this information has comes from Ernest Edwards medical records from his army records.

His Father & Mother are both English at birth & his father was in the merchant navy.

In 1937 the family home was 91 Wrotham Road, Gravesend, Kent.


Other addresses include: 17 Primrose Terrace, Gravesend, Kent (1946)
14 Ifield Street, Gravesend, Kent

Never had to find naval information out before so was wondering where I look for this information? Is there a site I can get naval information from?

Any ideas of where to go from here would be greatfully received. I still dont know where the parents are from or where they married. I do know they were in Gravesend when the son got married on 13 May 1944.

Note: A family member tells me Ernest Edward had two sisters Joan & Violet.
