My Grandfather Henry George Hall born 1912 from Northam Road, Northam,Southampton had a sister called Annie Margaret Hall born 1901 and a brother Albert Henry Hall born 1909 all were born in Northam road Southampton. I can only trace Annie up until the 1911 Census when she is with her aunt Annie thatcher and i know Albert was still alive in 1935 as he was a witness at my grandparents wedding, Their parents were Henry William Hall born 1870 and Caroline (carrie) Avery born 1877. I would really appreciate any help or advice anybody could give me.
Kind regards Kaye

I am trying to trace any information about my husband's great grandfather Ernest Edwin Bezant who was born in 1903 in Cork, Ireland and died in 1985 in Surrey. I'm pretty sure his father was Arthur A Bezant who was also born in Cork but can find no trace of either in any census, English or Irish. I know Ernest married Annie McCallum in 1928 in Portsmouth and they had 7 children together. Can anyone please help us fill in the blanks. Many thanks, Kaye and Aaron.

Kaye why have you deleted the post you made earlier where I gave you 1911 census for Ernest and Annie plus 1901 for Annie and 1891 for Ernests father Robert
Please do not waste peoples time by doing this.
You returned to the thread to say sorry about posting twice surely you saw all the info I gave you?

Apologies, I was trying to merge the posts as asked to by Admin and accidentally deleted the post it certainly wasn't intentional !!

Kaye Report 14 Sep 2010 02:43

I was certainly not asking for it to be duplicated. As for it not be hard to find i am sure if you have access to the 1911 census it is not hard to find, but please do not assume everybody is as familiar with the process as you !! because if they were there would be no need for this Forum.

You have said you found no trace on the census, so I assumed you have looked?
It has not been mistranscribed and Ernest's fathers name was Robert born in Wales

Kaye

Kaye Report 14 Sep 2010 02:58

I had looked on the only 1911 census I have access to, which is the one on this site, I did try many variations but could find none of the family I was looking for residing in Wales. I have since found the information I was looking for through GOOGLE which was extremely helpful and not at all condescending.
Many thanks Kaye

You will find Annie on this site born 1898 in Devon living in Portsmouth
I am pleased that google has been helpful, more than can be said of the genes census's you have subscribed to. Or the other paying members who choose to use ancestry or FMP to help others in their own time

I can only assume that the 1911 Census on here is very incomplete, i am also a member on Ancestry and find my past but alas have no credits for find my past at present to check it. Many thanks for your look up.

It appears that Sarah Jane Mayfield is on the 1911 on GR, so if you look for her you should find what their name has been transcribed as.

free search on 1911 census on here.

Mayfield Sarah Jane 1841 Chepstow Mon Newport

It's not easy to search on here as you have to give an exact surname, whereas on the other sites you can use variants.

The name Bezant can be easily mistranscribed.

Thankyou Christine. We have found many variants of the name and it can be very confusing. many thanks again.

Thankyou so much Christine, I would never have found that otherwise.

Kaye, are you under some impression that the people trying to help you here are being paid?

You paid for a platinum subscription. Everyone who posts on these boards -- including all the people in this thread -- also pay for subscriptions. Other members help because they choose to, not because you paid for a platinum subscription.

Whether you choose to ask for other members' assistance is entirely up to you.

But you might want to remember that you aren't paying for anyone else's time here; it is given freely, by people who pay for their own subscriptions, and unfortunately do put up with constant abuse of the boards and themselves by people who don't familiarize themselves with the way things work here.

I think it should also be noted that most of those of us who help out on these threads do so purely and simply because we enjoy searching and trying to break down brick walls

....... and almost none of us have more than the Standard Membership in GR

In fact, most of us consider that Gold and Platinum memberships are very much over-rated ......... especially as GR does not carry censuses or other records on this site, they just re-direct you to other sites!

Abuse ?. At what point have I abused someone. I am fully aware nobody on here is getting paid to help me and I have been extremely grateful for all the help I have received and of peoples time. This is ridiculous I made a mistake I accidentally deleted a post and I realised what I had done and immediately familiarised myself with the board.
You have ASSSUMED I have enough money to pay for my subscriptions, I can certainly not afford the full subscription on here but my father very kindly paid it for me. I am researching his family tree because he is dying of Cancer and doesn't have long left he never knew anything about his family because his own father died when he was sixteen and until a very kind lady on this message board helped me he didn't even know he had cousins still ali
