John Hall married Celia Simmons 19th Sep. 1824 in Brisley Norfolk they had two children Richard and Mary. Mary the youngest was born 1831. Celia remarried to William Parker in Whissonsett Nfk c1832. John Hall must have died sometime between 1830/32. However can find no reference to his death nor his birth. This is the man who provided my wifes family name, so quite anxious to find something. Mary was the mother of Noah Hall who was my wifes grandfather. Can anyone help please. Regards Jeff Ward. |

Thanks but i have Noah's details, he had ten children altogether. Its John Hall who is the mystery man. He appears from nowhere for the wedding and then disappears again. A ship that passed in the night !!.Regards Jeff. |

The problem is that this is all before official registratgion began on July 1 1837 .................. so you are down to searching parish records. |

Since my last post there have been some interesting developments. I discovered that Beta family search has Norfolk parish records on line 1538 to 1900. These show that Charles Hall (not Richard- mistake ) born Jan 1829 was baptised as the illegitamate son of married woman Celia Hall. Mary baptised May 1831 is shown as the daughter of John and Celia but there is a large questionmark against the entry. Records also exist showing a John Hall of Whissonsett joining the army March 1826 aged 24 From 1828 onwards he spent most of his time abroad finally settling in Canada. This accounts for the marriage,in 1833, of William Parker and Celia taking place in Norwich. They are likely to have been aware it was almost certainly bigamist and would not have been permitted locally. Intrestingly the first three children born after this date have no father's name shown in the baptismal records. Regards Jeff Ward |
