Find Ancestors

I've been trying for months now to find info and birth or marriage certificates of my great great grandfather but not having any luck. If anyone could point me in the right direction that'd be a great help.

here is all the info i have:

Samuel Harris c.1846, born Gloucester?

He had 5 children, Thomas (c1873), William (c1875), Albert (c1877), Annie (c1881) and Richard (1888)

3 of the children were born in Staffs, 2 in Wigan.

His wifes name was Mary (c.1848). My g. grandads birth certificate appears to list her surname as Wynn but I don't think this is correct. I've got 2 old letters, one appears to put her surname as 'Gyinn' and one as 'Qyinn'

I think he has a brother named Esau (c1838) and 2 sisters, Matilda(c1847) and Mary (c1858). His father is likely to be Elan Harris (c1801) and mother Anne (c1798)

Thanks for your help so far - that would make sense about the father being called Esau.

As for births - i think i've narrowed it down to two but i wanted to get hold of the marriage certificate first. The most likely surname of his wife is Gyinn I think.

Dea - yes it does state Wynn, but i have a couple of old family letters that state it is Gwynn or Gyinn. I assume it was transcribed wrong onto the birth certificate.
