My Grandfather George Fredrick Harris born in 1889, married Ethel carter in 1915 in Aston, at which time he served in the Warwick's. In the second world war he served in the pioneer's, after returning from the war, he left the family home in Birmingham never to be seen again. Any information about him would be really interesting. Thanks for the replies. I believe he was born in the black country in October 1889 but I don't know where. Has anyone any idea how I can look into army records?

You might be lucky and find his service record on Ancestry.
