I am trying to find a baptism for my 2 x great grandfather above - presumably this took place in Hemel Hempstead as this is where he said he was born in the 1851-1881 census returns. According to his marriage cert his father was named John. I have searched the PRs for St. Mary's HH and viewed the IGI but I cannot find a John baptising a James! There is a John & Sarah baptsing several children and a Sarah Harris was witness when James married Eliza Ann Lines in 1847. Maybe this Sarah was his mother or his sister. James & Eliza were married atIndependent Chapel in HH so I wonder whether he was baptised there. Any sighting gratefully rec'd. Jennifer

Hi Mel,

Sorry for delay in thanking you for info' in response to my posting last week. I only came back from 5 days holiday at lunch time today and I am only just picking up the threads. I appreciate your suggestion and I will certainly look into the possibility of this baptism being for my ancestor.

Many thanks once more - Jennifer
