My grandfather Daniel Joseph Harris, born 06/02/1892 at North Lonsdale, Greenlane, ULVERSTON Cumbria England, from Millom Cumbria served in the British army but I am unable to find out anything about his service. Any tips on how I may find out more?

David now you have this info if you feel it is correct you could send for his Service Records.. The cost is £35 and it takes quite a while for them to come through. They are based at the Historical Disclosures in Glasgow

If you go to the Verterans Agency (google) you can download a form from there if you want to find out atbout his service records.

Good luck

You can't send off to Glasgow for WW1 records, only for those who served after 1920.

Did not know that where do you send for WW1 records then. I have records for my grandfather who served in WW1 and WW2 but perhaps it was after 1920 although I though the first world war finished in 1918?

You can't "send off" for WW1 records. Some are on Ancestry and the rest are at the National Archives but should appear on Ancestry soon.

Officers records are all at the National Archives.
