Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of a death certificate or can view Army records for a relative that died in 1944 in India please?

Army records for WW2 are not publicly available.

The next of kin can apply for a copy - cost £30.00.....waiting time - several months

Google veteransagency for full details...............

Have you checked the CWGC site for his death?

you can probably get a death cert. look on Find My Past Military indices BUT probably will only tell you killed in Action .died from wounds or etc . wont give details though

Have you tried http://www.cwgc.org/debt_of_honour.asp
That, typically, has more info than his d.cert, excepting cause of death.

Since Scottish WW2 war d.certs have the same info as English ones, to get an idea of what's in a WW2 war deaths register, check out the link near the bottom of the page at:
