I am trying to find details of my nan by the name of Joan Frances Mary Harris. Her birth date is definitely 1.4.1923 and she was born in Swansea. She had 2 brothers, Bernard who was killed in the 2nd world war, and Norman Edward who ran an antique/french polishing shop in Herne Bay, Kent. Norman died about 1997. Joan's parents are Edward Joseph Harris - a Cabinetmaker from Swansea and Edith Frances Emma Harris (nee Cole) from Elham, Nr Canterbury, Kent. Joan died aged 46 on 24.12.1969 in Gillingham. She worked for the Military Fire Service and was married twice. The first marriage was to a Frederick W Coomber - a stoker in the Navy, at the Church of England, Maidstone, on 18th Jan 1943. They were both aged about 19/20, but the marriage was dissolved - why? The second was to my Grandad Ronald William Henson on 26th Dec 1953 at St Francis Church, Maidstone. Joan lived at 60 Lower Stone Street, Maidstone for a number of years. She and Ronald had 2 children, Linda in 1955 and my mum (Christine) in 1956 in High Halstow. Any information on my Mums side would be fantastic as she was only 13 when her mum died and has nobody alive to ask. Thanks for any info anyone may have Heather |
