Lorraine I am trying to trace ancestors on my mothers, fathers line. He was Walter John HARRIS and married Alicia Winnifred WINTER. Grandad was around 18 years old when he served in ww1 and he also served in ww2. Grandads mothers name was Martha and his father was Frederick. Martha came from the Isle of Whight and apparently met Frederick on the boat out to Australia. Martha and Frederick ran the general store in Officer(Victoria), and had 10 children, Walter, (my grandad), Rose, Elsie, Nellie(known as Ellen), Harriet, Martha, Annie(married George Kingdom), Bill, Ada and George. My grandfather and grandmother, lived at Dingley (near Dandenong in Vic), and had 4 children, June, Betty, Jack and Margaret. They later moved to Yinnar(Vic). If anyone has connections with these people, please let me know. |
