trying to find descendants of Benjamin Harris and Elizabeth Payne b 1821, Thorne St Margeret, Somerset. They had 2 daughters, Elizabeth 1846 and Ann 1850. Elizabeth (b 1846)had three illegitamate children, Willie 1886, Matilda 1871 and Ellen 1878 Ellen had an illegitimate daughter Maude 1896, Milverton? Matilda had 2 illigitimate children, Margeret 1886 and Alfred 1897. In 1891 census Elizabeth Payne/Harris was a former charwoman living at 57 Fore Street Milverton with grand daughters Ellen and Matilda. Does any of this make sense to any one! I would love to know why there were so many illigitimate births going on!!! |
