ALBERT EDWARD HARRISON: In 1917 Captain Albert E Harrison was court martialled and dismissed from the AIF in Tidworth UK. He had been the commanding officer of the Australian Hardening and Drafting camp at Perham Down. Albert was instructed to return to Australia via a designated troop ship. He subsequently didn't rendezvous with the ship, nor did he return to Australia, he subsequently joined the British regular military as a 2ndL/t in 1918-1919 Albert’s family in Australia never heard from him after his dismissal from the AIF, it's believed he survived WW1. It's possible he started a new life with a new family in the UK. Albert was born in Victoria Australia c1879. He often upped his age, suggesting he was a couple of years older. he was 5'10" and was well educated. Although it’s possible that Albert may have changed his name and history, it’s unlikely as he had numerous and significant educational, military and personal references in his name, necessary for him to continue his career and business life in England. If you have an ancestor who possibly had an Australian accent, who fought in WW1 as an officer in the British regular Army and who had some mystery in his past and was born in about 1876-79, please drop me a line, I'd love to hear from you. I have Albert’s Australian Military history and photographs, His British military history was destroyed in the WW2 bombing of London Many thanks Ian Harrison Torquay Australia |
