Looking for any info or relatives of either of these two people or their families:- George Henry Hartley and Clara Louisa (louise) Hartley nee Nicholson Married 6th July 1893 Bradford Parish Church. They have vanished off all records since the wedding. Urgently need to know if they had children, when and where. Also when and where either of them died and where buried. Know Clara still alive in 1907 and possibly 1911. Believe George still alive 1907 and possibly 1914 - both according to possible matches in passenger lists to Aust ex UK and Europe. George Henry Hartley b: 1853 Horton Bradford - d:??? Merchant Shipping Agent/Clerk and Basso singer Address on 1891c is 3 Bishops Street Manningham Address on marriage cert:- 18 Queens Road Shipley Father - Same name Mother - Sarah Hartley nee Robertshaw Siblings: Hannah Mary b:1850 John 1852 Edward Robertshaw 1855 - Famous politician and writer Martha Elizabeth 1857 Frank 1859 Frederick Charles 1868 Two other siblings from father's earlier marriage - names unknown AND Clara Louisa Hartley NEE Nicholson b: 1864 Carlton, Melbourne Australia d:??? Address on marriage cert: 18 Spring Gardens, Bradford. Witness at marriage - Julia Ford - who is this??? Father: James Charles Wilson Nicholson b: 1837 Bradford Organ Builder (From Nicholson Organ building family Yorkshire) Mother: Diana Rushworth b: 1838 Bradford - Innkeepers daughter James & Diana moved to Melbourne Australia in Dec 1859.Two children, Clara and brother Louis Edwin b: 1862 both born in Melbourne. James founded a musical instruments empire. Well connected UK and worldwide. Wealthy, regular world traveller. Louis stayed here and managed father's Sydney store. Clara went to UK sometime after 1891 (not on census). Met George either through family business connections or family social (most likely) connections, probably via James's brother Frederick Whitworth Nicholson, organ builder, Freemason (Eccleshill), but more importantly, Pres and VP of major Bradford Choral Society. George was a noted basso singer. The wedding made the papers as a social item. I have not been able to trace either of these two since the wedding, except for some possible passenger listings. It's very possible that the family listed for the 'Geelong' arriving October 1907 is one and the same family, as Clara's father died in Sept 1907, the first mention of Hartley's coming to Aust. Her father was dying after surgery in the April. Problem is three female children, two of which were born before marriage. Names listed as Miss CN age 13 (b:1894) Miss DM age 17 (b:1890) Miss JE age 16 (b:1891) Next passenger listing Aug 1911 - Clara and Martha Hartley Next passenger listing May 1914 - Same complete family as per 1907 Next passenger listing Nov 1920 - Two of the girls Miss CN and Miss EJ Very little other info available. Family histories, some census of other family members. No record of Clara or Georges whereabouts or any known children since wedding. Can anyone help please? Many thanks
