Trying to find any info, relative or family friends of George Henry Hartley and his wife Clara Louisa Hartley nee Nicholson, particularly any children and/or grand children. George was born 1853 Horton Bradford. He was a merchant shipping agent and basso singer. Clara was born 1864 Melbourne Australia. They were married 6th July 1893 at the Bradford Parish Church. They were not on the 1901 census and I have not been able to trace them since their marriage. It is likely they were out of the country at the time. Their is no record of their deaths in the UK. Their whereabous, issue or death dates and locations remain unknown. According to the marriage certificate, George resided at 18 Queens Road Shipley. Clara resided at 18 Spring Gardens, Bradford. Clara was the daugher of James Charles Wilson Nicholson (from the Nicholson Organ Building dynasty) and Diana Nicholson nee Rushworth. James had a brother in Bradford called Frederick Whitworth Nicholson. He was an organ builder, like most of the Nicholson men, a Freemason, but more importantly the President and Vice President of a major choral society in Bradford. It is believed that is most likely where Clara met George. It is possible they met via her father and uncles business connections. They shipped organs worldwide which required a shipping agent. Although she and her brother Louis Edwin (b1862) were born and raised in Australia, their parents were English. When her parents came to Australia he built a business empire in the Musical Instruments and Publishing industry. He was the only one of the Nicholson family to move to Australia, apart from his sister Frances (Fanny) Edmondson, who came out after the death of her husband Richard in 1895. It is believed that Clara returned to the UK for her wedding because apart from her parents, the rest of the family were still in the UK. If anyone has any information that could help it would be much appreciated.
