Hi

I am desperately trying to locate the family of a Police Constable Richard Hill born in 1839 murdred in 1869 in Bristol. He was murdered while off duty attending a fight in a public house.

His grave was purchased by a George Hill who at the time was living in Lower Church Street Chepstow. I found him on the 1861 census at the same address, saying he was born in Ledbury Glos. I can not find any connections between George and Richard except for the name HILL.

A lady from london came to a bristol police station approx 5-6 years ago asking to see the memorial plaque. unfortunately the station was closed for building work and the plaque was away being cleaned.

I work at the police station where Richard Hill was stationed and when tracing my own family tree I found that back in 1869 on the 24th April it was my great great great uncle who killed Richard Hill. I have recently managed to get funding from Avon and Somerset Police to have the gravestone repaired. There will be a memorial service on 24th April which will be attended by the Deputy Chief Constable of Avon and SOmerset Police, the police authority local MP's, members of the Cemetery, police federation myself and other members of the murders family.

Just one thing missing!! the HILL family. I have tried all sorts of ways to locate someone, but so far without any luck. Time is running out.

Is he your RICHARD HILL??????
