I am doing some research for a friend.
We have been having some difficulty with her mother, Sylvia Hill. According to her death certificate she was born Sylvia Elizabeth Hill on 24th March 1934 in Winson Green, Birmingham. However when requesting a birth certificate, the closest they had was a Sylvia Betty Hill and born 27th March 1934, is there a way of confirming this, as we'd like to go further back with the parents name on the birth certificates, as well as trace rumoured siblings of Sylvia.

Any suggestions and help would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Rhys

Who gave the information for the death certificate, as they could have assumed that Betty was Elizabeth, and someone just incorrectly remembered/recorded one date.
If you have her marriage certificate. that should have her Father's name on it, which should match that on her birth certificate.

Ginny> That is the brith certificate we have, and while there is information on there that akes us think that this right, there is some that leaves us with an element of doubt. We do know Sylvia had a sister Patricia who is older than Sylivia as well. The parents on this are Alfred Leonard Hill and Edith Hill (nee Smith). I have looked into the marriage of these and cannot find a match, neither can nail down a birth, but we'll keep going.

Patricia> The death certificate is with the person I as asking on behalf of, Sylvia's daughter who was only 6 when Sylvia died. I never did think stupidly of going down the marriage certifcate, but with her marrying at least once before and both times into the asian community, there will be no record of those marriages I'm guessing.

Cheers for your help

When was the sister, Patricia, born, as I was trying to find a birth for Alfred Leonard and did not want him too young?
Thanks

does your friends birth cert give a middle initial for mother?

We are not sure when Patricia was born, it was always thought that she was a few years older though that is not set in stone. I have found one birth in 1925, one in 1926 and one in 1939 but all we know is a first name and thats it. No idea on where she was born, no idea on middle name.
