ELIZA HILL, my grandmother, born about 1857 in Norwood Green, Hayes, Middlesex. Father Charles Hill, Mother also Eliza. She had nine siblings, Emma, Francis, Henry, Mary, Caroline, Louisa, Charles, Ellen and Edward. In 1881 Eliza was a maid in the home of the Makins family, 8 Palace Gate, Kensington. She married William M. Ryan in 1888 and they lived in Marylebone, London and later in Holborn. Can anyone tell me about what happened to her brothers and sisters? I would particularly like to know about her sister Louisa. Rumour has it that she made a marriage 'above her station', whatever that means. Angela Ryan. |
