My husbands father- Harold Hughes b1890 d 1942. Had brothers Cyril c 1893 Possibly i born n Coventry also Edward c1895.
Their father was William Hughes b 1867.

Problem...............if Mary Ann and William John were siblings, then it doesn't look as though my 1871 and 1881 census will be the correct ones.

........so first thing to do, as suggested by Jan, is to buy the birth cert. of one of the children to find out their mother's maiden name, then you can find the correct marriage. This cert. will give you father's name and occupation so you can find them with more accuracy on the census records.
