WILLIAM HUGHES (BAYLISS) Seeking descendants of WILLIAM HUGHES born c 1842 in Birmingham. He met and married ELLEN LEAHY in 1871 whilst serving in the British Army in Ireland. Their firstborn ELIZABETH HUGHES was born in Ireland in 1872 followed by WILLIAM JOHN HUGHES (1874) B'ham, THOMAS HUGHES (1877) born Shropshire, LILY HUGHES (1881) born Shropshire, MICHAEL PHILIP HUGHES (1885) born Lower Uckfield FRANCIS (FRANK) HUGHES (1887) born Lower Uckfield. William Senior was a photographer by trade and we believe that Lily became a teacher. At some point the whole family changed their surname to BAYLISS but then reverted to Hughes. Strange?? you may think so but we are hoping that all this information will ring a bell with someone. Thanks, Joanie |
