My maternal grandmother was born LIZZIE HUGHES in Royston, near Barnsley in 1898. She had brothers William and Seth and a sister Annie. Her father was William Hughes of Bangor b.1858 and her mother was Mary, possibly Williams, from Anglesey. I know I am probably looking for a needle in a haystack, searching for Hughes and Williams in North Wales!! William was an underground Colliery horsekeeper living in Royston in 1901. Any connections gratefully received. Sue My mother remembers branches of the Hughes family living in Penzance and Trevone, Cornwall. The names Charlie, Betty, Vi, Rebe and Morland are involved. Morland married a Ruby and lived on a farm on Bodmin Moor in the 1960s. |
