Hi Colin.

If your Geoge Jackson was only given a C.P ( Conditional Pardon ) he would not have been allowed to return to England / U.K.
Hence the word "Conditional"
He would however have been allowed to move about in Australia ( States ) and also New Zealand in most cases.

To be able to return to the U.K...he would have needed to be granted an A.P ( Absolute Pardon ) seen on records as A.P

Life transportees were allowed to re-marry, even if they were already married in the U.K ( as they could never return anyway )......or in some cases a spouse would follow her Husband / Wife out to the Colony

There were 27 Transportee results in Australia for a Convict ....George Jackson.

Is this your George Jackson

George Jackson, one of 250 convicts transported on the "William Hammond", 03 January 1856.

Convicted at Kent. Assizes Maidstone for a term of 10 years.
Vessel: William Hammond.
Date of Departure: 03 January 1856.
Place of Arrival: Western Australia.
Sentence details: Convicted at Scotland. Edinburgh Court of Justiciary for a term of life.

There is a possible death registered in W.A ( but its a possibly only )

Western Australia ( Deaths ) 1868
JACKSON GEORGE age: 47 Father: UNKNOWN Mother: UNKNOWN Ref:3856 1868

There were eight marriages for a George JACKSON in W.A between 1856 and 1920.
If he did marry, then this ( below ) would be the closest.......as all others were 1900 upwards

Marriage Western Australia.( 1891 )
JACKSON GEORGE Male Spouse: DAVIS FLORENCE Female District: YORK 236 1891
