Hi, I'm John Hartas Jackson b 1946, My father was also John Hartas b 1914 in Yorkshire. He emmigrated to South Africa in 1948 where I grew up. I'm trying to find my family in England. My father had a sister Mary, brothers George & Bill, a half brother Frank (from a second marriage) b 1948. There were other siblings but I don't know the names. I think my grandfather's name was Frank, a butcher & farmer in the Middlesbrough area, born about 1880, died 1972. Grandfather had sisters Elizabeth who brought up my father & his siblings. Great Aunt Elizabeth was a school teacher. Aunt Mary married a Norman Powles and lived in Bishops Stortford, they had a son David. I also believe that there was an Uncle Hartas who died in the Boer war. I hope someone can help. |
