Don, don't know about anyone else, but I can't see a marriage for Catherine Howard to a James. You could really do with that birth cert found by Peter.

Hi all,
Have the Birth certificate,
Fathers name Arthur James
Mothers name Alice Eliza Mary Howard (b 1872) Edmonton 3a 231
Married Jun 1894 Paddington 1a 10

Sorry about the Catherine.
I just have not been able to trace Alice or Arthur in the 1881 census - any ideas?
Thanks
Don

Well, we have their marriage at last! Just shows how you need to be really wary of family info:

Marriages Jun 1894 (>99%)

Howard Alice Eliza M Paddington 1a 10
James Arthur Paddington 1a 10

Might need to spend some more hard-earned cash!!! You need their father's names, and their ages, to be able to pinpoint them in 1881 I think. Witnesses can also offer clues as often family members.

Thanks for all information supplied, 34 Appleford Road is definitely the right address, but the way so many people used their second names instead of their first christian names just adds to the jigsaw puzzle.

Cheers
