Densirl, you've been around the block here now -- you know how to use FreeBMD, right? And you know about giving all the info you have if you want help finding more.

There is no marriage of a Hannah or Anna Davis to a James John in the GRO index (unless one is mistranscribed)

When/where did they marry? Do you have her name from a child's birth certifiate, a census ... ?


I'm afraid I can't follow what Ann o' GG is posting at all either. There's never an introductory word or explanation of how a record relates to the question at hand ...

If your Hannah Maria was born in 1864, this is her birth, not the Anna Maria posted by Ann o' GG. Do you have the birth certificate?

Unfortunately there are two Hannah Davis-s in Worcestershire who could fit the bill, neither with parents.

There are too many in 1871, none of whom shows as born in Redmarley or living in Newent reg dist.

So you need the birth certificate to learn her parents' names.

That's the reg dist where your HMD married, so it's a good possibility. You could check that there is no actual *Anna* Maria Davis birth to account for her.

If you have the marriage certificate that gives you HMD's date of marriage, then you have her father's name. Why not go through your files *first* and provide that info before asking?

*If* that is HMD in 1871, it looks like the marriage AoGG posted is the parents:

And my mistake (arising largely from the amount of bumph you leave in those records when you post them, AoGG ... ploughing through it becomes tiring), the Anna Maria baptism AoGG posted was dated 1864 and so is the same as the Hannah Maria birth I posted.

Apparently she got officially registered as Hannah Maria and so married in that name, but the parents thought it was (or were heard to be saying) Anna Maria. ;)

You can probably identify which of the Hannah Davis-s she is in 1881 if you search that census -- one of the domestic servants is in Upton on Severn district in that census.
