I am trying to find any additional information re Hannah Wheeler James born 1875 in the Hackney area of east London. Father was Thomas James (birth details unkhown), mother Mary Ann Allen (whose father was Issac William Allen). Thomas and Mary Ann were married at St James Bethnal Green in august 1867 but I am not sure of their status in 1871 or 1881. When Hannah Wheeler James married William Hugh Webb in 1896 her father Thomas was shown to be deceased ..... but that does not tie in with census data. Family stories say Hannah was disowned by her family upon marrying William. The story also says she was part of an italian family but I can find no trace to Italy at all. William died in WW1 (he lied about his age - too old to join up) as did his son William (who was too young to sign up). William and Hannah also had Nellie, Anne, Richard, Elizabeth (Lizzie),James and John (my father b1905). Hannah died around the start of WW2. Can anyone reveal any information that might help? JOHN |
