Hi Jan
I have just found your post on 5th Nov 2013
Have just seen this post while googling Orepuki. My grandfather had a brother Arthur Adam Smith Lennon. We have done some tracing and knew he went to Australia but no one knew what happened to him. Would love to trade information. I think my brother has had contact with a descendent of the above.

Hope we can still connect. I am in New Zealand.

Regards
Margaret Fishlock nee Lennon

Margaret,

As you have noticed, Jan posted more than 8 years ago and may no longer be a member of genes or looking at the boards.

If you click on her name you could send her a message, if she still has the same email address then genes will notify her (they do not notify her of messages on the boards).

Good Luck.

hi Margaret, do you know whether this

He was a policeman in the NZ Police Force and married a Helena Watson formerly Burnaby, in Sydney B.1863.

means that Helena Watson was born in 1863 and he married her in Sydney?

It's just that there is no marriage of an Arthur Lennon to a Watson or Helena in NSW

http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/bdm_fh.html

and if she was born Burnaby or Watson there is no birth in NSW

https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/search/

okay the marriage to Helena was in NZ

1908/8476
Helena Burnaby (note not Watson)
Arthur Adam Smith Lennon

that seems to be the only relevant Arthur Lennon marriage

there seems to be no relevant death, or for Helena Lennon

no records show for Lennon births with mother Helena

(if born 1863 she would have been 45 when married)

there doesn't seem to be a Watson-Burnaby marriage (or Burnaby-Watson)

the two Arthurs' birth records are

1881/1943
Lennon Arthur Adams Smith
mother Jane
father Thomas

1899/12029
Lennon Arthur Alexander
mother Barbara Matilda
father Thomas Alexander

father of the younger Arthur / brother of the elder one:

1873/33409
Lennon Thomas Alexander
mother Jane
father Thomas Alexander
(died 1946)

they had other siblings:

1878 Robert George
1883 Charlie Henry
1874 William James

deaths can be searched up to 50 years ago ... Arthur AS Lennon born 1881 could still have been living in 1965

for Arthur Alexander Lennon 1899 who 'went missing' ... he had 9 siblings (have not searched to see who survived) ... all but 1 younger (the youngest twins) ... if they did not know what happened to him or where he went, it would be terribly difficult to discover now

in any case there is no indication that Arthur Adam Smith Lennon had any children as there is only the one marriage, to Helena Burnaby, and no children at least to 2015 (100 year cutoff)

Thanks so much for this info. Some new info there :-)
Is there any way we can find out when Arthur Adam Smith Lennon died and where he is buried?

He also had a liason and child by a Christina Margaret Nielson
She died 19th Sept 1939 in Timaru New Zealand. aged 50. She was married to a Samuel Edward Dickson when she died.
It is the Great grandchildren of this *Love Child* that are looking to find A A S Lennon and what happened to him
