Find Ancestors

My Grandad John Connolly/Connelly would have been born around 1889 or 1890 cant seem to find the Birth certificate. I do have a marriage cert to Dolly Ginger on the 17th June 1917. His age was 28 and his father was also called John Connolly. His address at the time was 105 Banham street, Bermondsey, London. His profession at the time was a Private 19866v and cant read anything else. He died 25th July 1942 while working on the London Docks his age was 54 and was living at 12 Palmerston house, Southwark, London. His surname was spelt Connelly on the death certificate. I have been searching for a birth certificate for a long time and don`t seem to be able to find one. Any info would be fantastic.

Hi Susan thats fantastic news the area of London is perfect. This is certainly worth investigating. I can`t believe the age gap of the mum and dad. I`m starting to wonder if my Grandad was ever registered? I think my next move will be to trace his parents details. Thankyou so much for your help.

Looks to me as though it could read 24 and not 74! and why is the wifes name not recorded?? Had John forgotten it??

Hi Mel thanks for the advice, for along time I thought that my Grandad was a John James Connelly born 4th April 1888 in St Saviours, Surrey but I found out this John Connelly married someone else completely different and unfortunatly could not be my Grandad. Thanks anyway.

Tony this is John James birth. The one I put up earlier is just a John Connelly.

Hi Mel Thats great news you are probably wondering why i dont know much but I`m doing this for my Dad he was put in a home when he was very young and did`nt know his family at all so thats why I dont have much information. I am very grateful for your help so thanks again. Do you think that the spelling for the Conollys in the 1881 census could be the same people? I know the spelling of the surname has changed a few times even recently ie My Dads brother Patrick Connolly so it is possible. Again many thanks.

I am just wondering if this could be a second marriage as there is 9 years between John and Samuel.
, but Johanna is about the right age as the last census.
