Debra,

Who did he marry?

Have you got him on the earlier census's?

Norfolk have an online site. Google "NOAH". You might find a mention of the family on there.

,Have you checked LDS ? There is a John Johnson born 17 May 1801 in Ashill . Ashill is the adjoining village to South Pickenham. Parents were Henry Johnson and Sarah Woods. However shows him marrying Martha Newton 2 Apr 1827.He died in 1856 and Martha in 1881 both in Ashill. In 1881 census Martha is shown living with son Philip 49, daughter in law Hannah and their sons John, George and Robert on The Green, Ashill. Also living on The Green was John Johnson 59 with wife Susannah, plus sons James and Henry and grandsons William and Herbert. There was a John Johnson 36 and wife Ann possibly son of the above John Johnson also living on The Green and finally William Johnson 50 and wife Ann. All the male Johnsons appear to be agricultural labourers

Hi Ann,

I've looked at your message and it seems to be the wrong John Johnson. On the 1941 Census it states his wife Frances,
John Johnson b 1801
Frances b 1796
Elizabeth b 1821
John b 1825
Richard b 1825
sarah b 1830
Ann b 1834
Christopher b 1835

It says South Greenhoe South Pickenham, so thats all l have to go on. I cant seem to trace any further back than that. It seems Newton has some relevance somewhere down the line and a Newton witnessed Richards son Charles,s wedding. James Newton is on the 1881 census living with Richard and his wife Lucy.

Hope this makes sense
Debbie
