I am trying to find what became of a William Johnson born around 1892 to William Robert Johnson. William married Annie Leah Paling in 1899 and this boy was with them as his son at the 1901 census. Who was his mother? No one in the family knows of this boy who later appeared in the 1911 census as 'Willie'. Father William Robert was born in Leeds and lived in Chorlton, Manchester most of his life. At one stage the family briefly emigrated to the USA during the First World War- but Willie wasn't with them - maybe he had died in the war? I am really, really stuck on this and with the common name of Johnson I don't know what to do. I would be grateful for any small hints or anything whatsoever. |

I've been doing some more digging around and I think you are right about the Kettle family - I found a marriage between William Snr and Ruth Balmforth Kettle in Manchester in 1890 - it fits the bill very well. Also, Ruth died in Mar 1898 just before William married my husband's grandma annie Leah in 1899. So thank you so very much for looking and tipping me this way. |
