Trying to find out what happen to two brothers William Frans Johanson AKA as Frank Johnson b 1902 Redruth Cornwall and his brother Frederick Oscar Johanson AKA as Freddy Johnson b 1904 Redruth both left Cornwall in their teens one went up North and one I believe went to London. One had a son Bobby who was in the Police Force in London. They would have been my great uncles.

I don't see their births under those names in the GRO index (or under any surname starting Johan).

Have you found the registration details at FreeBMD?

Is this possibly their father in 1901?

Where born: Swe Foreign Subject

Ah ... so their official name wasn't in fact Johanson.

The likelihood of anybody who reads this remembering them is slim leaning heavily to nil. You have searched trees here (under all possible names)?

But sometimes others of us can hunt info down! Starting with complete accurate info helps. ;)

Actually, what to do next is get their birth certificates.

After about 1970, the deceased's exact date of birth is recorded in the deaths index, and it can be searched that way at Ancestry. This can sometimes be key to finding a death, and the death certificate can then point to other family members.

There are 3 Frederick O Johnson marriages 1920-1940. Camberwell 1927, Birmingham 1936, Camberwell 1937 (possibly a remarriage?). Only a marriage certificate would show a match with your Freddy's father's name.

For Frank's death, you need his DOB, to try to match with a death of one of the many Frank, William Frank and other possible Johnsons born 1902.

Thanks I think that is Freddy , because he worked in a zoo at Chester one time which I believe is not far from Carlisle. Thanks for everything. I knew about Frans Johanson and can trace his wife Mary Jenkins ancestry back in Cornwall. Frans's father on the marriage certificate was named as Karl Johanson dec'd Mariner Merchant Service but that is all I know. Thank you from David in Cornwall

You're welcome, David.

I posted the info about Frans because you have all the context, but we don't, and you never know what could help. For instance, it could help find them on the 1911 census, to see what names they were using, but I skipped that step.

If you do get

- the boys' birth certificates - this could help find Frank's death

- Freddy's death certificate - it could give a family member's name

If you do that, just bring the info back to this thread if you want more help!
