On my great grandfathers marriage certificate it says his father was William Johnson. My great grandfather Charles was born in 1871, father on the birth certificate is blank. It is possible that Charles' father (my great great grandfather) is not really William Johnson but a William Wormall. Charles Johnsons mother was Suzannah Johnson. Could William Johnson have been William Wormall but because they were unmarried took the mothers name of Johnson. So could we all actually be Wormalls. This is my stumbling block at the moment. On the 1871 census Charles is in the house with Susannah as son, 1881 in the house with Susannah Wormall and Charles still listed as son. In 1891 Charles is listed as step son? Susannah Johnson had 8 kids first 2 were johnsons, then she married Wormall between kids 2 and 3 and had 6 more Wormalls in quick succession. How can I prove who was Charles Johnsons father? Please any help!!!! Peter |
