Looking for the grandmother i have never known. Ethel was born in approx. the late 1920s as she was a young girl when she came to London and gave birth to my mother in July 1945, 6 weeks later she gave my mother to Lilian (the lady i know as 'nan') and left to apparently return to her home town, somewhere in the Leicestershire/Nottingham/Derbyshire area. A family friend was approx 15yrs at the time, remembers her well and has given us these small pieces of info. My mother is apparently the spitting image of her. Ethel is supposed to have lived on a farm along with two brothers and her parents. When she returned from London she married and had a family. If maybe this story sounds familiar or maybe you are a relative of Ethels and have kept this a secret, please help my mother (Judy) and I find our family before all these secrets are laid to rest forever! |
