Find Ancestors

Once again I am asking for anyone with infomation on my Gran Gertrude Maude Jones. All I have on her is from my Mums Birth Cert. She gave birth to my Mum in Ruthin, N. Wales on 13th Oct 1930. She described her occupation as a sick nurse. The address she gave at Castle Square Ruthin does not seem to be her home address and she does not list a fathers name. Mum was fostered out locally but I cannot get any info from this family. Mum told me some years before she died that she thought her Mum went on to become a matron in a nursing home (?) If anyone knows anything about her I would be so greatful. Also I was wondering if any body could tell me with only my Mums Birth Cert to go on is there any way I could advance my search. Hi Jenna. No unfortunately I have no info other than the details on my Mums Birth Cert. I was really hoping that someone just might recognise my grans name. I do think the bit about being a nurse is correct too. I know with the surname Jones it is like looking for a needle in a haystack! Thanks, Helen

Hi Sharne. Thankyou for your reply re. Gertrude Jones. I am guessing that your Gertrude is unlikely to be well into her nineties which is the age that I think my Gran would be. Is Jones her name before marriage? You don't say if you know has she Maude as her second name. If you think it could be her I would love to hear more. My Mum thought that Gertrude Maude Jones may have connections with LLangollen. Don,t know if that rings a bell with anyone. Thanks again, Helen

Perhaps you should start with electoral rolls?

With no father on the cert I take it your mum was born to Single mother.
Is your mum Dorothy ?

The only Gertrude Maude (with an "e") Jones within the time scale is ....

However there are lots called G. Maud born in Wales.

Yes my Mum was Dorothy. And you are right no Dad. My Mum was always led to believe that her Mother was Welsh but I suppose it's not out of the question she could be born elsewhere. Thanks
