Find Ancestors

Hi John Jones married Margaret Gallagher spelt Goligan for some reason in 1857 in Ashton Lancs. I know from his census returns of 1861 and 1871 John was born in Newton or Hyde and that is father was also John, I cannot find John or his father John on the 1841/1851 census or any other info about them, so any info would be much appreciated, thanks

Here's the 1871 census return for John and his wife Margaret, I'll have to check my back up family history cd to find the 1861 census, I always keep my info backed up incase the dreaded blue screen strikes, trouble is it takes me ages to find anything when I need it, bear with me as Arnie would say I'll be back :)

I should have amended Rose Ann, she is Rose Ann not Cole Ann. I only know John's father was John from a rootschatter, so have no info on his profession at the moment I cannot find where the 1861 census return is at the mo this is the info I've put on John's notes on here about the 1861 census

In 1861 John's family was lodging with the 0'Donnell family at 1 Back King Street in Stalybridge RG9 Piece 2999 folio 100 Page 48. John was working as a cooper and Margaret was a cotton and loom hand

1871 census Coates Street St Jude Lancashire is in the New Cross Ancoats area of Manchester about 12 miles away from Stalybridge.

If you google Tameside Council possibly have some historic info on about Stalybridge.
