Hi everyone, i am trying to trace the marriage of my gt grandfather, i have his sons marriage and birth cert, but just cannot find a marriage for him, i think i have him on 1901 census with his parents Thomas and Mary, but until i his marriage cert, then his birth cert i dont know this for sure, i have searched and searched for him and just cant find him.
He was born Arthur Lloyd jones, Aberdare, Sept qtr 1900, his son Ronald Lloyd Jones was born Mar Qtr 1922, so am assuming, probably quite wrongly they were married pre 1922. I have a marriage for a Blodwen evans to a Jones, but this is the wrong one. I just cant seem to match these 2 together, anyone got any ideas please.
Thank you

Ronald birth cert says father Arthur Lloyd Jones and Mother Blodwen Jones nee Evans, have tried to search for this marriage and just cannot get them to match up, loads of Jones/Evans marriage just not the right 1st names.
Got the birth reg of Arthur Jones through a search, it came back as Arthur lloyd Jones, born Reg District Merthyr Tydvil, sept qtr 1900, ref 11a 770. On the 1901 census he is down as born in Aberdare, which is a sub district of Merthyr.
I have certs and find them facinating, thats why i want to try and get this one.
Thanks for you replies

Wendy

Found this marriage,
Blodwen Evans to Jones June 1920 11a 2083 Merthyr,

But when you put it under Jones there is nothing there for a marriage for Jones & Blodwen Evans

Many thanks for searching that one Karen, but its a gentleman called John Jones. I just dont know what else to do, i dont want ot go searching the tree with only census info, as this could lead me down the wrong path, i made that mistake last year on another side of my family, hence the reason i am trying to do it the 'right' way.
Thanks again.

Hi, am assuming from what my aunt tells me they both died around the Bridgend area, but this could be wrong.
Ronalds siblings are Alice M L Jones, Bridgend, June 1923, mmn Evans
George T L Jones, Bridgend, June 1926, mmn Evans
and i havent got the details for the youngest Anthony. Havent put the ref's up as George and Anthony are still alive.
Thank you.

Hi Cassidy, i do apologise but i dont know when they died, this part of my family was going through a bit of a feud at the time, i never had any contact with my grandparents sadly. My aunt doest know this info either.
Sorry again

That was the only Arthur Lloyd Jones around that time, and around that area, there were 4 in total, Mar 1870 Cardiff (bit too old) March 1886 Newport , Dec 1894 Swansea and Sep 1900 Merthyr and thats the one i went with, so to be honest, not 100%, hence the importance of the marriage search, this family is certainly keeping me on my toes.
Just a bit disappointed that i have come to a stop so early on.
I do know he was alive in the 1950 and he was listed as colliery labourer on Ronalds birth cert and a labourer on Ronalds marraige cert, he was also a lay preacher at some time.
Thanks for all your time and effort on this, really appreciated.

It would be just my luck that they ran off to Gretna Green and got married! Anything in this family is a possiblity.
Thanks for the help.
