I have been trying to find the birth of my father-in-law, John Elias Jones b. 1873 in Holywell, Flintshire. I have tried everywhere and had a lot of help from people in genesreunited without success. Now I'm wondering if I can possibly find any info on his father (I have no info on who his mother was). According to my mother-in-law they came to Liverpool from Holywell abt 1873, so I'm assuming the father died in Liverpool. He was shown as deceased on the marriage cert of John Elias Jones in 1897. Since John Elias was born in 1873 I'm assuming that his father was born abt the mid 1850's. Is there any way I can look at actual death entries to try and find the correct one. Sometimes the person who registered the death might be a clue. His name is John Jones so needless to say there are a lot of them and I don't even have the year he died.
Thanks, Yvonne

Thanks everyone for the quick responses.
First off, the John Elias Jones in the 1901 census is the correct one - I have his marriage and death certificates, and the census says he was born in Holywell. I have the birth cert for the 1872 Holywell birth and that gives parents as John Jones and Sarah Davies, but this can't be the correct one as this family is still living in Wales in the 1881 and 1891 censuses. I've had the birth checked out at the records office by a very helpful lady living in Wales. I've also checked FindMyPast so I'm assuming that the birth was possibly not registered. I know from the marriage cert. of John Elias that his father's name was John and his occupation was a collier, and John was deceased at the marriage of John Elias in 1897, so this is why I thought I could possibly find something in a death record for John. I'm going to be visiting the UK in September so I could maybe visit the library in Liverpool as suggested by Jacqueline.
Thanks everybody.
