helloo
can anyone shed any light on alice born circa 1895 married a william townsend maybe castleford yorks
she died very young about 30
dont know much else about her. no paperwork available.all children were taken in by other families
she is my grandma
any info much appreciated

A copy of the marriage certificate will help confirm her age and also tell you her fathers name and occupation...

This is so sad, I had a reply from the family of Alices older sister Elizabeth




Hi Lindsay,thanks for contacting me. Sadly I know very little about the Jones family, you probably know more than I do. Alice's sister, Elizabeth Jones born ab 1894, was my husband's grandmother. My motherinlaw was only 5 years old when Elizabeth died suddenly at 38 years old, leaving behind 8 children from 1 year old upwards. She only knows her mother's name and that her granddad was Richard because he lived with them. The family moved to Castleford about 1902 and on the 1911 census they were living at 27 Leeds Road, Cutsyke in Castleford. Their father Richard was age 46 a widower, Elizabeth 17, Richard 15 and Alice 13. Richard's father, William Jones was also living with them.

So that makes 13 motherless children so far that we know of .

and the further I trace back the mothers have all died young, makes me wonder if they had something like sudden death syndrome ?
