Find Ancestors

I an searching for my husbands grandmother Ann Jane Jones born about 1888 ,Caernarvon area.Two of her sisters emigrated to Argentina about 1907.She had 3 sons Edward,Albert and Robert and later married a Mr Griffith.Can anyone help with further information.

I know that , you can see why it is a problem.Her first child was born out of wedlock and I suspect the other 2 also were.Nor do I know when she married Mr Griffith it could be anytime between 1915 and 1940 and although I am told that he died in an accident while still quite young ,I don't know when.

Do you know the names of the sisters ?

Did the sons have middle initials ?

Any idea when they were born?

I don't know the sisters names.Edward was born 4 Sep 1907 at Bodvan Caernarvon when Ann Jane was a domestic servant at Llandeiniolen.Albert was Albert Edward? and Robert had no second name.She died Ann Jane Griffith 19 Nov 1966 ,age 78 in Portmadoc.Robert died 31 Aug 2005 in Portmadoc,age 89,so born 1915 and Albert was allegedly born 1910 but cannot find him in 1911 census.I found an entry in 1911 census of Edward living with William Jones of Llandeiniolen his uncle but this may be a red herring.

You should be able to get her husband's name from her death certificate, it should say "widow of .........."

Ann Janes husband was William Griffith and he certainly didn't die down a mine because he was a painter and decorator, as stated on her death certificate.

Did she marry the William Griffith as Ann Jane Jones?

I keep looking at this marriage.... but I can't find the missing groom just referred to as Griffith

I have now found Jones Annie -GriffithS Carnarvon which is a William and an easy mistake for the registrar to make adding the s.I might try that.As far as I know she was Ann Jane Jones when she married, and William had no other name.11b 737.The marriage had to be after 1915 as her youngest son is called Jones.Thankyou all for your help so far,I still need you.

I'm sorry Patricia if I'm trying to complicate matters any further!Its just that I found a marriage for an Ann J Jones to a William O Thomas in the Caernarvon District in 1919.

Like everyone else I was struggling to find a Marriage of an Ann J Jones to a William Griffith(s).However I found a Marriage in 1928 in what is described on North Wales BMD as a Caernarfon Civil Marriage of a William Griffith(s).There is a choice of two spouses which usually indicates a second marriage.The two choices are Ann J Thomas and Ann J Jones.

I also found in Caernarvon in 1925 the death of a William O Thomas.

Odd that you should say that William because on his marriage certificate Edward son of Ann Jane gave his fathers name as William Owen (Jones) although there is no fathers name on his birth certificate.I may pursue that line of reasoning.Thankyou

Thankyou for your help.I now have the marriage certificate of William Griffiths and Ann Jane Thomas widow and I know it is the right Ann Jane because William's address as given on the 1928 marriage certificate is the same as the address where my husbands grandmother lived until her death in 1966.
