Find Ancestors

my grandfather was walter jones born 1878/ 1881 in wrexham,i have been told now his name was richard,and my other cousin said he was jenkin,and that he dropped these names and was called walter,i am so confused,i can't find him in the records,his father was william jones colliery fireman who died before 1906.
i have walter's marriage certificates and he is just walter jones on these.
hope someone can help.

Just found this, it is possible that the person who told you his surname was Jenkins *could* have been refering to his mother's maiden name..

he married martha james in 1906,and margaret williams in 1918 ( farr she married alfred farr who was killed in the war ) both marriages in merthyr tydfil.i would love to find all walter's family before he got married.which seems to be very hard with a name like jones,i only know his father was william jones colliery fireman,and that he died before 1906 he was deceased when waler got married in 1906.
