I am looking for information on John Jones, father of John Jones born 1838. Although the births following on here are mainly aorund the Manchester area, I feel that they had come over from Wales, John Jones senior being a gardener may mean that he had been in some area of farming - before being in Manchester. I can remember my father talking of an uncle (or 2) of his father's living in Mold area of Flint, possibly working in some capacity at the railway station there. Ths did initially make me think my Gt Grandfather had come from Wales but then I found the records that he didnt. So now I think it may have been my G T GT Grandfather who did! I feel that he would have come from north or mid wales as opposed to South Wales If you have any info on the John Jones's family tht links to this one I would, naturally, love to have it. As you will see JJ Jnr was the son of Jane (nee Dickinson) and John Jones, a gardener ...as below I shall give a bit on 'down thru the years tree, incase any of you are looking for any of the other people I have here, as I see names like Lilian Helen come up, which whilst they dont connect to my tree, may join in later as that was the name of one of my grandfather's sisters and names often trickle down trees. So, John Jones born 17.9.1838 became a commercial traveller in machinery, was the son of Jane (nee Dickinson) and John Jones, a gardener. John Jones Jnr was born in Stockport died aged 47 in Blackburn, married to Elizabeth (Finkler of Lytham) on 24.6.1867. Their children were: Wilfred Henry (my grandfather) born 17.11.1872 in Stockport, Ches who married Mary Grace (my grandmother) in Acton London. Amelia Jane born 6.54.1868 Martha Lilian Helena born 23.9.1869 who married John West Barnes in 8.12.1898 and died in Sheffield 1939 aged 69. Their children were : Lilian Marian who married Alex Dickman on 4 9 1937 Helena Kathleen dob 24.1.1900 J Wilfred H Barnes who married Mary on 20.0.1932 One of my grandfather's sister's may have had a sort of haberdashery shop, as she was referred to as Ginny A' Things. Whether this was the name of the shop or not I dont know.
