Trying to find info about my grandfather's family. He was William Jones, a bricklayer. His father was Joseph, a hay and straw merchant and I believe his mother's name was Margaret, but I don't have a maiden name. William was married before he married my grandmother and had two children by his first wife, Elsie (b about 1918) and Ernest (b about 1921). I believe they lived with an aunt in Cheetham Hill, Manchester after their mother died. William died about 1944 when my father was 5 yrs old. He was 59 when he married my grandmother, Martha Ellen Gerrard, in 1933. I have recently found out that his grandfather was also Joseph, a hay and straw merchant, married to Rosetta Boardman and born in Shropshire around 1804. Does this ring any bells with anyone else researching Jones's? |
