Hi I'm trying to find any infomation on my GT GT grandfather Daniel King. I have no idea when or where he was born or where he died. I know it's a long shot but all I have to go on is that he was already dead by the time both of his children were married. Here is what I know so far Daniel was married twice and I think that the two children were to his first wife, these children were Margaret Ellen King born 1902 and Frederick King 1904, I do not know where they were born as it was first believed that they came from Barrow-in-furness but it has now been sugested that it could be somewhere in the Durham area. Frederick was married in Burton-in-lonsdale to Hannah Marshall and their witnesses were Hannah's Aunt and Uncle and Daniel King is now as deceased that was in 1924 and Margaret Ellen was married in Kendal to James Hall in 1923 and once again Daniel is deceased. I have tried to find Fred and Margaret's birth certificates but have struggled as I don't know where they were born. Any help would be greatfully recieved. |

This is a possibility for Margaret - you could send for the cert and ask them to check that the fathers name is Daniel. |

I do know what his second wife was called as she had been married before and my grandad used to be intouch with her daughter before they all died. The wives name was Mary Dickinson maiden name Whittam or whitham and Mary's daughter was called Lily Eleanor she married John Mcveigh I have got copies of both Lily's birth and marriage certificates although they dont make sense either as it shows her father on her birth but only lines on her marriage so maybe she had nothing to do with her father once her mother left him for Daniel King |

on their marriage certificates it just states that he was deceased so I don't know what he did. I don't know if he was born in barrow and moved to durham/newcastle area or vice versa but he had to have been in Barrow-in-furness to have met his second wife cause she was from Barrow and that is where Lily her daughter got married. |

But my grandad always said that Lily was his dad's (fred) step sister i am now beinging to wounder if they never got married |

if Lily's dad died before she got married that could explain why there is lines through where it should say father on her marriage certificate |

As the two King children were born 1902 and 1904 you are probably correct in thinking that they were born to Daniel's first wife! |

On lily's marriage certificate one of her witnesses was John Thomas Dickinson who I think was her brother the one who was 12 in 1901. |
